The Art and Design Department at Witchford has a well established reputation for its promotion of the visual arts and achievement of consistently high levels at both Key Stage 3 and 4. The college has gained the prestigious award of Arts Mark Silver.
Students are encouraged to develop their perception, creative thinking and technical skills. The ability to observe, analyse, contemplate and find ways of interpreting thoughts, opinions and feelings play vital roles in the experience of the subject.
Individuality is encouraged, supported by the development of the practical skills, which allow students to achieve their full potential. The department operates a fully integrated homework system to extend and consolidate class-based work.
The department runs extra-curricular activities for all students to explore their creative potential in 2 and 3 dimensional design, ICT, photography, printmaking, ceramics, painting and drawing.
