Windows 2000 PCs problem printing PDF files
Users with Windows 2000 PCs may experience problems when printing PDF files from Central Hosting. This is due to Microsoft Windows 2000 being unable to render PDF files in a format that the Screwdrivers Client v4 software can immitate. Windows XP, Server 2003 and Windows Vista machines do not experience this problem. Here is a work around for this problem:
1. Whilst logged into Central Hosting click "Start" - "Printer and Faxes".
2. Highlight the printer you wish to use to print the PDF by left clicking it once
3. Click "File" - "Printing Preferences"
4. Select the "Extended Options" tab at the top of the window
5. Put a tick in the box "Send Print Job as an image with the following DPI" and leave the DPI set to "Same as Printer"
6. Click "OK" and print your document.
It is worth noting that this will take longer to print than normal as your PC has to convert the document into an image before it prints, depending on the speed of your computer and the size of the PDF the amount of time will vary. Users may wish to set this setting back for all normal documents and only make this change when wishing to print PDF files.
If you have any problems with the above instructions, please contact the ICT Service Helpline on the usual number.
