VBScript - Remote Desktop Connection error
 
Users may experience an 'An invalid server name was specified.' or 'Remote Desktop Connection ActiveX control could not be installed. A connection cannot be made without a working installed version of the control. Please contact the server administrator.' error message when click on the globe to log into Centrally Hosted MIS or when accessing the Centrally Hosted MIS page, this is caused by an Internet Explorer add-on being disabled.
 
This error should be resolved by:

1. Open Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools.
3. Click Internet Options.
4. Click on the Programs tab.
5. Click Manage add-ons.
6. Look for and select "Microsoft Terminal Services Client Control (redist)".
(Note - if the Microsoft option is not available in the current view, click on the drop-down menu and choose "All Add-Ons". Also the name may have changed to "Microsoft RDP Client Control (redist)".)
7. Ensure that Enable is checked.
8. Click OK if prompted with an "Add-on Status" window.
9. Click OK.
10. Close Microsoft Internet Explorer.
11. Retry connecting to Centrally Hosted MIS.
 
If the above does not resolve the issue please try the following solution:
 
1. Click here.
2. Click Run.
3. Click Run again, if prompted.
4. Click Next.
5. Agree to the License Agreement and click Next.
6. Click Finish.
7. Reboot your computer.
8. Retry connecting to Centrally Hosted MIS.
