Internet Explorer crashes when connecting to CH MIS
You may receive this message when logging into Central Hosting:
"Microsoft Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close."
If you are running Windows Vista Service Pack 1, Windows XP Service Pack 3, Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 you will experience Internet Explorer crashing when trying to connect to Centrally Hosted MIS. This is due to changes in Internet Explorer security made by these service packs. Once these service packs are applied Internet Explorer does not recognise the printing software as being "trusted". This causes internet explorer to hang and eventually crash when trying to connect to Centrally Hosted MIS.
There is a work around for this which is to set the cambsed webpage to be a "trusted" site and then to enable the printer software to run on trusted sites.
-
In Internet Explorer, click on Tools and then Internet Options.
-
When the new panel opens, click on the Security Tab.
-
Click on the Trusted Sites icon (the green tick)
-
Click on the Sites button.
-
Take the tick out of the “Require Server Verification” button.
-
Click the Add button to add *.cambsed.net as a trusted site.
-
Click the Close button.
-
Back on the Internet Options screen, click on the Custom Level button.
-
Scroll down until you see “Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting”.
-
Click on Enable and then click OK.
-
Click Yes to confirm the change, and click OK to close the box.
-
You should now be able to log into Central Hosting.
